Acres of Hope is the loving creation of Patty and Harold Anglin. Patty was raised the daughter of Medical missionaries in the Congo, Africa. The mother of 16 children, she is an outspoken advocate on adoption and the Executive Director of a National Charitable Organization called Acres of Hope. After her marriage to
Harold Anglin, Patty began a long career as a foster care mother to medically fragile children as well as providing services in parenting skills to their families. While providing care Patty began to see ways of improving the foster care system. She began to work with other agencies and groups, local, state and national in developing new and innovative ways to assist children and families in receiving appropriate services.
Several years ago, Harold and Patty witnessed firsthand the devasation of Liberia after her civil war. They adopted
their son, Tucker, and saw a need for all children impacted by the war which left many children orphans and medically fragile. The orphanage was born! To date, more than 300 children have found loving families due to Acres of Hope's orphanage work, thousands of children have been fed, and children are now able to attend schools which were previously non-existant. Harold's dedication to his marriage and family is demonstrated by his committment to caring for their children as Patty travels to Liberia to conduct orphanage work, feeding programs, medical care, and adoptions. They often team together at the orphanage to work toward Liberia's healing.
Patty is the author of the book, Acres of Hope, that chronicles her families challenges and joys in adopting eight special needs children. The
book has provided a resource for people facing the everyday challenges of parenting special needs children. It has been used for training material for conferences and workshops throughout the United States and internationally. Acres of Hope received the Silver Medallion Award and Seal.
